Many Democratic congressional candidates have spent the summer running away from AIPAC and toward the DSA. Jared Moskowitz is doing the opposite.
The Florida congressman is hoping to prevail in a newly drawn district that is the wealthiest in Florida, stretching from Boca Raton to Miami Beach. He says that to win one of the tightest races in November’s midterms, he’ll need to focus on winning over independents, as well as members of his party who remain supportive of Israel and skeptical of socialism.
In practice, that’s meant a vocal embrace of moderate politics that Moskowitz sometimes frames as more revolutionary than the progressives seeking to remake the party.
“I thought it was ‘blue no matter who,’” the two-term congressman said in an interview. “We have a big tent. Does the tent include pro-Israel Jews? Or are we not in the tent?”
