U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz now serves as the top Democrat on the House subcommittee tackling foreign policy in the Middle East.
U.S. Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, the top Democrat on the full House Foreign Affairs Committee, just announced key assignments on the minority side. That included naming Moskowitz as Ranking Member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa, where he immediately succeeds U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman, a California Democrat.
“I also congratulate Representative Moskowitz on his new role as Ranking Member of the Middle East and North Africa Subcommittee, and thank Rep. Sherman for his stewardship of the Subcommittee,” Meeks said.
Moskowitz welcomed the development, which could pave the way to him chairing the same subcommittee if Democrats secure a majority in the Midterms.
“At a moment of enormous change and instability across the region, America needs a clear and serious strategy,” Moskowitz said. “I am honored to take on this responsibility and ready to get to work.”
